To generate a good otf from a bdf:
- enlarge to 40 times the size, e.g. 320 pixels and export as a bdf
- make a new font, set encoding to unicode
  set the depth to 256 and height to 768, (or whatver their values should be)
  and import the bdf  you made, as background.
- autotrace with options -a 0 -z left -n
- hexedit the width at 0x122 to be 0240 and correct the checksum for the OS/2 table
- save as otf.
